In 2023–2024, the Medirent team, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, developed the Automated System for the Basic Network of Cultural Institutions (AS BNCI) — a modern digital tool for accounting, management, and monitoring of the country’s cultural infrastructure.
The AS BNCI is a centralized register of the Basic Network of Cultural Institutions under the Ministry’s management. Its primary goal is to digitize all cultural institutions in Ukraine and streamline the reporting provided by these institutions and their staff. The register facilitates the accumulation of data on the activities and performance of libraries, theatres, museums, and other institutions within the basic network.
Why It Matters
Ukraine is home to over 33,000 cultural institutions, including around 15,000 libraries. The system enables stakeholders to assess the use of budget funds, identify which cultural products are most in demand, and pinpoint areas for improving the efficiency of cultural institutions.
