Basic Social Assistance

Recently, a new service appeared in Diia — the Basic Social Assistance (BSA) application. This is a unique service that transforms the approach to family social support, making it more convenient and transparent.

The key feature of BSA is that it combines four types of social benefits into one comprehensive service. Thanks to this, families no longer need to submit separate applications for each type of assistance. At launch, the service is available for those who already receive:

  • assistance for low-income families;
  • benefits for single mothers;
  • assistance for children raised in large families;
  • temporary assistance for children whose parents avoid paying alimony or whose whereabouts are unknown.

To ensure fast and reliable operation, the service is powered by the Unified Information System of the Social Sphere (UISSS). It automatically verifies data, calculates the amount of assistance, generates individual decisions for each family, and ensures timely payments. We’re sharing this because the Medirent team played an active role in launching the service. Specifically, we:

  • modernized the UISSS to enable centralized administration of Basic Social Assistance;
  • set up data exchanges with Diia, the Integrated Complex Information System of the Pension Fund, and other state registers through the Trembita System — the national platform for electronic data exchange between government systems;
  • ensured automatic data verification and benefit calculation based on information from external registers and data stored in the UISSS;
  • implemented the full cycle — from online application submission to payment processing.

Now, with just one request from a citizen, a whole chain of automated checks across various state systems is launched — and it all happens within seconds.The launch of BSA in Diia marks another milestone in the evolution of UISSS, which has been scaling digital social services across the country for several years. We are proud to see how the system we helped build continues to bring the state closer to its people with every new project.

And a little spoiler: our team is already working on another major national e-service. Stay tuned and keep your finger on the pulse of digital updates!
